ORAT – Operational Readiness and Transfer

The Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) consulting methodology is designed to ensure that a new airport infrastructure project – a terminal extension or a newbuild on a greenfield site functions perfectly from the very beginning.

We offer ORAT (Operational Readiness and Transfer) consulting services and optimization of airports with a focus on Terminal Planning, Airport Processes as well as the management of complex airport projects. Key Deliverables of our consulting services are to enhance the passenger experience as well as operational efficiency at airports. By using a holistic approach which incorporates the requirements of internal and external stakeholders, we contribute to the success of our clients.

We ensure the clients and its operational teams are ready to deal with two main sets of tasks: 

• • Preparing staff, procedures and systems; and 
  • Planning a smooth transfer from the old to the new installation.

This all starts with operational and technical management, with the team writing new sets of operational concepts and procedures, or updating existing ones, to suit the new installation. Ground handling, control center operation, different types of emergency response – everything is considered.

Next comes training and familiarization: checking there is adequate training documentation to educate staff in these new processes, concepts and technical systems.

Lastly, there is the design of the operational trials that verify system functionality and check new airport processes for gaps and errors. The ORAT team plans the script for each one down to the very last detail, from the staff involved and the flight schedule to sourcing the dummy bags and test passengers, seamless working of access control systems, complex working of fire safety and protection systems and even arranging the temporary catering and fueling services.

Moving to a new facility is a huge test but it also offers airport and airline operators and other relevant stakeholders like CUSTOMS, Immigrations, Security Agencies, fueling and catering companies; the opportunity to massively improve their procedures, systems and staff skills in a single step.
